ACCIMT established
The Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies has a long-running statutory and scientific role in Sri Lanka’s technology ecosystem.
A future Sri Lankan National Space Agency should not begin with prestige. It should begin with public value: better disaster maps, better climate and agricultural data, stronger engineering capability, visible science, useful communications, international cooperation, and a generation of Sri Lankan students who can see a place for themselves in the space economy.
A credible national institution starts by recognizing what Sri Lankan engineers and institutions have already done.

Cabinet approved appointing an expert committee to formulate a policy covering international cooperation, global space governance, obligations, treaties and standards.
This version is intentionally more public-facing than a ministry organization chart. Choose a program to see the national service it would provide.
Proposed future functions, not claims about existing departments.
These cards distinguish confirmed national/institutional milestones from the SRI LANKAN NATIONAL SPACE AGENCY official website.
A future public-facing agency should make data discoverable, explain what it can and cannot tell users, provide APIs where appropriate, and publish mission metadata instead of treating every dataset as an internal artifact.
The 2026 Cabinet decision supports policy formulation. It does not, by itself, establish this agency. A credible route from today to a OFFICIAL organization would require formal government decisions and law.
Expert committee develops the national policy framework approved for formulation by Cabinet in May 2026.
Government decides whether coordination belongs in ACCIMT, a ministry office, regulator, new agency, or another structure.
Define mandate, governance, funding, treaty responsibilities, data/publication duties, procurement and oversight.
Map existing institutions, staff, facilities and partnerships without erasing their history or duplicating capability.
Choose measurable missions tied to national needs, science, capability development and international cooperation.
A national agency should have a route for students, universities, industry, ministries, researchers and the public to state needs and find the right program. This tool creates a shareable program brief; it does not submit anything to Government.
The visual system can be serious and aspirational without crossing into government impersonation.
The site identifies itself as the official website of SRI LANKAN NATIONAL SPACE AGENCY.
The Sri Lanka-inspired lion and sword are original project artwork, not a copy of the national flag or an official state seal.
The Southern Cross / Crux is the recurring constellation language whenever stars are used in this project.
A future national agency should acknowledge existing institutional capability and partnerships rather than rewriting history around a new brand.
The strongest national space program is the one people can point to and say: that made Sri Lanka more capable.
